Following a bye in the 1st round of the Challenge Cup, the team played against Rockmount Golf Club on 15th May. Carol Murphy and Connie Wright led the way, winning the two home matches, Connie with a nail-biting finish on the 19th. Gillian McCann, Libby Pallin and Shelley Cleere then travelled to Rockmount, where Libby came from 2 down to bring in a win on the 18th and overall victory for the team. Gillian and Shelley, both starring in their first ever competitive Club matches, played exceptional golf. A great day was had by all and the team greatly appreciated support from our Lady Captain, Lady President, Hilary Ellis and reserve team member, Joan McMillan. On Sunday 12th June the Royal Belfast Ladies Challenge Cup team, comprising Connie Wright, Carol Murphy, Libby Pallin, Gillian McCann and Shelley Cleere faced their Holywood counterparts in the 3rd round. The Senior Foursomes team had a very successful 2022 season. Our first match was against Spa on 15th May. Alex Barnes and Abby Beckett had a fantastic 7 & 5 win at Spa and Julie Carr and Zoë Miller won 3 & 2 at home, which meant the third pair, Patricia Boyd and Jane Thompson were called in. Our next match was against Lurgan on 5th June. Alex Barnes and Abby Beckett won 2 & 1, Julie Carr and Zoë Miller won 1 up, Marilyn Henderson and Patricia Boyd, playing at Lurgan, were all square playing the 17th when they were called in. We secured our place in the semi-finals against Royal County Down Ladies on 25th June. At home, Alex Barnes and Abby Beckett had a convincing 6 & 5 win whilst Zoë Miller and Julie Carr lost 1 down on the 18th. At Royal County Down, Marilyn Henderson and Patricia Boyd had a tough match in very difficult conditions. After 5 holes they were 4 down but they kept calm and in their usual determined spirit battled on to be all square after 13, lost the next two holes to go 2 down after 15 and fought on to win the last 3 holes to secure victory on the 18th.

Revive Active Ladies Fourball

by Grace Taggart

The 1st round of Revive Active Ladies Fourball against Knock GC was played on 1st May. There was very tough opposition at Knock, where we lost both matches, but fortunately won the three home matches to progress to the next round. The team played against Co. Cavan GC on 31st May. Both teams played extremely well in very difficult conditions, but Co. Cavan were victorious with 4 matches to 1. All the team members enjoyed their matches and the social time afterwards. My special thanks to acting captain, Deirdre Courtney, who travelled to Co. Cavan and supported the team so ably there.

The Ulster finals were played at Strabane on 17th July against Belvoir Park on what was one of the warmest days of the year. The team for the final were Alex Barnes and Abby Beckett, Anna Brewster (a rising star in our Junior Section) and Julie Carr, and Patricia Boyd and Jane Thompson. Reserves were Corin McCrea and Gillian Haldane. Sadly, we lost 2 – 1to a very strong Belvoir team with the deciding game going to the 17th hole. Thank you to
