YOUR GAS CONNECTION

Important information about your new gas connection

Your gas connection How it works

1. Our Network We own and maintain the network of underground pipes and gas meters that safely deliver gas to your property. However, we don’t supply the gas itself.

2.Your supplier Your chosen gas supplier owns and supplies the gas and is responsible for billing you based on your usage.

3. The property ownerr The property owner is responsible for everything from the gas meter onwards – including the meter housing, pipework and all gas appliances such as boilers, cookers, and fires. For your safety and legal compliance, always use a Gas Safe Registered engineer for any maintenance, repairs, or installations.

How we bring gas to your property

Step 1 – Excavation • Where possible our least disruptive

connection technique (Moling) will be used • Moling will require excavations every 6 – 10m • A minimum of two excavations of approximately 1m will be necessary despite the method used • In some ground conditions and where the location of other underground utility services are uncertain moling is not possible. In these instances a full excavation along the line of the service route, to the meter position, on your property is the only option • Yellow markings will be used to identify service routes (this is a temporary marking which will disappear naturally) • Please note that construction work may lead to restricted access to your property.

If you or anyone in your home has additional needs, please notify us in advance of any specific requirements that you feel we may need to be aware of ahead of undertaking construction works at your property.

Step 2 – Reinstatement • When we finish our connection work, we aim to complete all reinstatement and remove any materials within 5 working days. • We strive to restore the area using a material similar to the existing surface; however, we cannot guarantee an exact match or a return to the original condition. • While we aim to clear all materials following our connection work, please note this does not include power washing. • For more information regarding reinstatement, please refer to section 4.4 of your Gas Connection Agreement Terms & Conditions.

Pre-connection checklist We want to ensure your gas connection goes smoothly and on schedule. Please review this checklist before your gas connection date. If you answer “No” to any question below, please contact us as soon as possible. This will help us avoid delays and ensure everything is ready for your gas connection. Site Preparation & Access Is the route between the gas main and your agreed meter position clear of obstructions such as skips, scaffolding and parked vehicles? Are you prepared for temporary access restrictions during the work? Meter Housing & Location Have you confirmed a location for your new gas meter? Are you satisfied with the location of your chosen gas meter and type of meter housing? If you’ve chosen a recessed meter housing, will it be installed and sealed before your gas connection date? Have you resolved any proximity issues, such as open vents or electrical cables near the agreed meter position? Understanding the Process Do you understand that reinstatement areas will remain visible after completion? We strive to restore the area using a material similar to the existing surface; however, we cannot guarantee an exact match or return to the original condition. Important: Avoiding Delays If you are required to carry out works prior to your connection, please ensure you confirm works are completed at least 3 days prior to your connection date. Failure to carry out works will result in connection cancellation.
