Steven Davis has captained his country a total of 67 times, more than any other player. He was first given the armband by then manager Lawrie Sanchez for a friendly international against Uruquay in New Jersey on 21 May 2006 which ended in a 1-0 defeat. In his 119 full international appearances to date Steven

Davis has played a total of 10,013 minutes for his country with exactly 7,500 of those minutes having come in competitive matches. The only other player to have played more international minutes for Northern Ireland is of course the great Pat Jennings who amassed a total of 10,478 minutes.

Davis has started 112 of his 119 matches for Northern Ireland and has only been substituted on nine occasions. The only time that he has been an unused substitute was in a World Cup Qualifier against Azerbaijan in Baku on 9 October 2004, exactly four months before he made his full international debut at home to Canada

on 9 February 2005. His full record reads:
