History Immortalised in the song, “The Star of the County Down”, Banbridge owes its development to Lord Downshire and to the once thriving linen industry. Ferguson’s Irish Linen Factory was established in 1854 and is widely recognised as being the best of Irish Weavers and producers of the finest linen Jacquard in the world.
