COME AND TRY WHEELCHAIR RUGBY EVENT: SATURDAY 25TH APRIL

A ‘Come and Try Wheelchair Rugby’ event, organised by the South Eastern HSC Trust, Ulster Rugby, Disability Sport NI and Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council will take place at the Antrim Forum at 12 noon tomorrow.

WHEELCHAIR RUGBY EVENT

The event is open to all wheelchair users, male and female, who would be interested in getting involved in the sport, at a competitive level or as a hobby. The hosts, Ulster Barbarians Wheelchair Rugby Club, is the only club of its type in the province and is affiliated with the Irish Wheelchair Association and Irish Wheelchair Rugby. It’s a young, but extremely ambitious club with a current membership of 12 players, 10 male and two female, from all over Ulster. Four of the Barbarians have achieved international honours, representing Ireland. The club is based at Antrim Forum and training is on Monday evenings between 7-9pm. The team participate in the annual Irish League and have also competed in tournaments in Scotland and Germany. The aim is to build on the existing success with a view to entering a team in the Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby League in the 2015/16 season.
