The winning tries in October were of the calibre you would expect from the highest quality of club rugby in the world. Ulster Rugby’s Stuart McCloskey sealed the first accolade during the curtain-raiser in their win over Wasps at Kingspan Stadium, when the results of the ChampionsCupRugby.com public poll were combined with the views of a distinguished rugby expert to find the winner. Lawrence Dallaglio of BT Sport gave the nod to Scarlets wing Steff Evans for his finish of a fine team move in Round 2 against Bath Rugby at a drenched Parc y Scarlets, citing his “ambitiontorunfromdeepwithagreatcombinationof superb offloading and support lines” for his decision.
The competition will continue into the knockout stages, where a further competition judges the pick of the tries from the quarter-finals and semi-finals, whilst the last-leg of the campaign is Try of the Season, which pits all previously voted winning tries against each other, to reveal the seasons ‘ultimate’ score after the final in May. By voting for the winning selection, you will go into a prize draw for prizes including match tickets, watches and signed memorabilia. 108 tries have already been scored in the Champions Cup including some sensational efforts, worthy of acclaim.
