Ulster Rugby - Annual Report 2017-18

Graffin Parke, our outgoing President, has tirelessly represented the Branch throughout the year. He has undertaken all his duties with gusto and fun supported by his wife Lexi. I welcome Stephen Elliott as our incoming President and his wife Heather. I know they will represent the Branch with good humour and diligence following the example of Graffin and Lexi. My thanks also go to Shane Logan who as Chief Executive has always made himself available to discuss my ideas, thoughts and concerns. Paul Terrington’s first year as Chairman of Management Committee has been eventful to say the least. Paul quickly grasped the issues and politics and has led with clarity and authority in the most trying circumstances imaginable. I look forward to continuing to work with Management Committee under Paul’s leadership as we develop our strategic plan building Ulster Rugby back to being competitive in the PRO14 and the Champions Cup, building on the improvements of Ulster clubs in the AIL and developing the rugby to be the sport of choice for many in whatever guise that may be. Finally, in summary, 2017/18 has been the most challenging year for Ulster Branch. Some of these challenges will disappear but many will not but the Branch has many good people, both staff and volunteers, with good ideas and experience working in a constructive manner. The Branch has demonstrated that through the work of the staff and volunteers real progress is possible and sustainable. Michael Boyd Honorary Treasurer
