The Royal Belfast Golf Club - Northern Ireland’s Historic Hidden Gem

Where Heritage Meets Hospitality Founded in 1881, The Royal Belfast Golf Club is Ireland’s oldest golf club. Our historic Harry Colt-designed course sits in one of the most picturesque settings in Ireland, with sweeping views across Belfast Lough. Royal Belfast holds a place in history that no other Irish club can claim. To play here is to walk the same fairways as generations of golfers before you — a rare privilege that adds meaning to every round. Alongside the history, there is a warm Irish welcome. From the first tee to a final drink in the bar, our team will make sure you feel at home.

Why Play Royal Belfast? A Course That Rewards Intelligence

A Clubhouse Worth Arriving Early For Our elegant Victorian clubhouse is a destination in itself. Old world charm and modern comfort in equal measure. Arrive early to settle in before your round, and stay afterwards for a glass Kirker Greer Shamrock whiskey, the whiskey of the family who once lived at Craigavad House. Perfectly Positioned 20 minutes from Belfast City Centre · 40 minutes from Belfast International Airport · Less than 2 hours from Dublin Airport · Easy to reach; impossible to forget.

Designed by the legendary Harry Colt, this is parkland golf at its most thoughtful. Precision over power, strategy over strength. The greens run fast and true, and reward a confident putt. Royal Prestige One of only three Royal courses in Northern Ireland, Royal Belfast carries a distinction that resonates with golfers everywhere — and makes it a genuine bucket-list addition to any golfing itinerary. Testimonials “The golf course is beautiful, challenging and in wonderful condition, the Clubhouse grand and immaculate and the restaurant homely with great views. But above everything else is the warmth and hospitality of the staff. We were treated like members for the day, with everyone from staff to members going out of their way to welcome us. Can’t recommend it enough!” “A Royal experience indeed. First time playing this course and it didn’t disappoint. I would describe it as a parkland with a links feel about it. I very much recommend you play this Harry Colt wonder.” “Fantastic course, out of this world Clubhouse and staff couldn’t do enough for us.”
