‘In my view, what makes St Malachy’s unique is that the education goes beyond the classroom and whilst grades are important, the extracurricular activities are equally important in shaping men for the future. I have had the opportunity to experience this first hand through becoming a Eucharistic minister, reading at mass and volunteering regularly in my local community. OTHER EXTRA- CURRICULAR CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES Other extra-curricular opportunities include the Irish Club ‘An Cumann Gaelach’, Junior Visual Art & Animation Club, Cookery Club and History Club. In keeping with our ethos, our students have the opportunity to join the St Vincent De Paul society. Students also fund raise for Trocaire and each Christmas, through Barnardos, every tutor group sponsors Christmas presents for a child.

science, and really helps you to see the world around you in a different way! CHESS CLUB There are, on average, three different sessions of Chess club every week. The senior teams meet separately from the junior teams and each pupil can play at his own level. However, more and more we are finding that the interplay between the year groups is producing more inventive moves and players. It’s superb! Younger and older players are contributing to a thriving Chess community within the school. Chess is all about brain play and strategy and in the College the boys show amazing mental dexterity.
