GENTLEMEN’S COMPETITION REGULATIONS Members should study the club notice boards for details and rules of competitions and for changes in Local Rules. Unless otherwise stipulated the Entrance Fee for all competitions will be £3.00 per player. Competitors’ Cards are to be in before 8.00pm on Saturdays unless otherwise directed. Under Rule 13(6) of the Handicapping System it is an obligation of each player to return all cards (whether complete or not) taken out in qualifying competitions. Handicaps are centralised and members may be required to produce GUI handicap cards on all occasions visiting other courses. At all times non-competitors must give way to those playing in competitions. In Saturday Competition all play must start from the 1st tee. Players not starting at the 1st tee are reminded that they have no standing on the course. Competitions for which fewer than 16 entries are received will be considered void, except for Frazer Salver, Veterans’ Competition and Scratch Cup. At the discretion of the Match and Handicapping Committee, if a Competitor is guilty of slow play he shall be liable to disqualification or other penalty as the Committee shall deem to be appropriate. Members of the Junior Golf Section holding a handicap of 18 or less may play in all competitions except those marked thus* providing that at all times their cards are marked by a Resident or Intermediate Member. Those holding handicaps of 12 or less may mark cards.

Intermediate Members are not eligible to play in the Captain’s Prize unless they have returned a minimum of three cards from Saturday competitions during the current year for Handicap purposes. Temporary Resident Members may play in all competitions except for the Captain’s Prize. Outport Members may play in all Competitions except those marked. 0 Time Sheets will operate for the Captain’s Prize and other major competitions as directed. In the event of a Tie, results will be decided by the best score on the 2nd nine holes and thereafter by the best score for the last six holes, three holes, two holes or one hole, as necessary. In Match Play events the first names must arrange the match. DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES For all play at this course a player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that may affect his play (e.g. elevation changes, wind speed, temperature etc.) the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is 2 strokes in Stroke play and loss of hole in Match play. Any subsequent offence would mean disqualification from the competition. THURSDAY EVENING COMPETITION Played from the green tees from April to September. See noticeboard for details. Guests are welcome, but two guests may not play as partners.
