Back in the summer the Irish FA’s social media team put out an advert with the aim of attracting an artist to get creative in designing covers for the matchday programmes for Northern Ireland’s home Nations League matches this year. The brief was that each cover should have a Northern Ireland football theme and reflect the area surrounding the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park and beyond. Rory Quigg, an illustrator based in Belfast, accepted the creative challenge. The cover of this publication is part one of a three-part series. It will link with October and

November’s matchday programme covers to provide an overall piece. Rory studied graphic design and illustration at Ulster University, graduating in 2015.

His illustrations have an almost child-like, traditional feel that often convey a modern message.
