the first on the pitch. He is a fantastic young man and his resilience to keep coming to training, even when selections were going against him, is a shining example of the type of young man the Rugby Department seeks to develop. He was a worthy captain of the side and always played with total commitment. Connor Wood also developed significantly in his second season in the senior squad, changing position from wing to scrum half. His work ethic, often on his own, to master the intricacies of playing scrum half was outstanding, and his performances grew throughout the season. Ben Rea offered a physical edge in the centre, and was the most improved player within the senior squad this season. My thanks to Mr Thompson and Mr Allen on their help during the season with both teams in the senior squad, I know the players appreciated your efforts and your desire to see them succeed at every opportunity. The 2nd XV endured a difficult season, mainly due to the difficulty in securing fixtures and generating player numbers. Our numbers as a senior squad were lower this season, therefore once injuries and unavailability started to rear their head during the season, it became extremely difficult to facilitate fixtures. This was a difficult issue for all involved, players and coaches, who all were aligned in wanting more 2nd XV fixtures, especially as it can be a key development space for players not ready to take the step to the 1st XV. The side, unfortunately, made an early exit from the 2nd XV cup, losing away to Royal School Dungannon in a tight fixture, arguably one we should have been victorious in. When we were able to secure fixtures, Harvey Moore captained the side. Harvey’s commitment over his 3 year senior rugby career needs to be celebrated.
