DRAMA & MUSIC

JUNIOR SINGERS Participation in the Junior Singers at Grosvenor has greatly contributed to the development of my passion for singing. I joined the Junior Singers during my first year at Grosvenor, alongside many other junior pupils, and since then, I have been fortunate to experience numerous musical opportunities. This year, we had the privilege of contributing to two significant events in the school calendar. During the Christmas period, the Grosvenor Carol Service was held in St Anne’s Cathedral, a highly anticipated occasion. In the weeks leading up to the event, considerable effort was dedicated to rehearsals, ensuring that every detail was refined. The final days spent in the Cathedral, perfecting the performance, were filled with anticipation and excitement. The Carol Service consistently generates an extraordinary atmosphere within the Cathedral, and for me, participation in the choir truly brings the festive spirit to life. On the evening of the Gala Spring Concert, we had the honour of performing alongside senior choir members for the concert’s Finale, a medley from ‘Les Misérables’. Singing in the choir over the past two years has been an invaluable experience, due in no small part to the guidance and inspiration provided by the senior choir, Miss Foster, and Mr Arnold. I eagerly anticipate continuing my journey in the choir as I progress through the school and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead. Year 9 singers

December marked the annual Carol Service, held in the esteemed surroundings of St Anne’s Cathedral. The choir presented a repertoire featuring traditional carols, including ‘Once in Royal David’s City’, ‘O Holy Night’, and ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’. As in previous years, the cathedral provided an enchanting atmosphere, creating an ideal setting for the performance. Audience members expressed their enjoyment of the service, with some remarking that it was the highlight of their Christmas celebrations. The academic year concluded with the 80th Anniversary Spring Concert at the Ulster Hall in March, an event that showcased the dedication and musical talent of the choir. As the season draws to a close, it is with great sadness that we bid farewell to our Year 14 members. Their contributions have been invaluable, and we extend our best wishes to the Class of 2025 as they embark on the next phase of their journey beyond Grosvenor. Recognition and gratitude must be extended to the individuals who make the Grosvenor Singers possible. Sincere appreciation is owed to Mr Arnold for his accompaniment throughout all performances and to Miss Foster, whose unwavering dedication serves as the driving force behind the Grosvenor Music family. With deepest thanks to all involved, we eagerly anticipate the opportunities and musical experiences that the 2025/26 year will bring. Gabriel Carson 13TG6

CHAMBER CHOIR Grosvenor’s Chamber Choir of 2024/25 delivered a series of outstanding performances throughout the academic year, beginning with appearances at both the Junior and Senior Prize Distribution Ceremonies, held in our own William Moles Hall. The choir performed A Gaelic Blessing by John Rutter, a piece of particular significance in the school’s musical heritage.

GROSVENOR SINGERS The Grosvenor Singers have experienced an exceptionally busy and successful year. In September, the ensemble had the honour of performing at Senior Prize Day, followed by an equally distinguished appearance at Junior Prize Day Celebration of Success Ceremony in September 2024.
