EDUCATIONAL VISITS
SU Weekend
This weekend was a weekend I will never forget. From the people to the activities, everything was perfection. Arriving on Friday evening, no one was concerned whether you were Year 8 or Year 14 as everyone was immediately welcomed. I loved that when we did the team games it was random mixed teams, giving everyone opportunities to talk to people they may not have spoken to before. We got to talk, laugh and cheer while playing games such as making a team flag, doing a blindfolded cottonwool challenge and building the best tower, all of which was very competitive. The talk on Friday night, delivered by Briony Conway, set the tone for the weekend and was amazing. The topic was prayer and I learnt so much. Saturday was incredible. We started the day off worshipping together and hearing more about how to pray. We then headed to Portrush to do a scavenger hunt for the Senior School pupils who were all in fancy dress, including a cowboy, a boxer, Mario and a minister, to mention just a few. We also spent a few hours in Barry’s enjoying as many rides as we could.
We then headed to the beach to play games and even made a human pyramid. After a pizza tea we met again to hear Briony give her final talk on when to pray. We then took part in a very practical exercise to help us pray. The evening was completed with the first ever Grosvenor Fight Night! The sumo suits were put to good use and great fun was had by all, with even a few staff taking part!! On the final morning, we all got together to share what we had learned from the talks and this was the best way to end this fabulous weekend. I was sad to have it end. Thank you to Mrs Caulfield, Mrs Buchanan, Ms McCourt, Mr Purdy and Mr Allen. Thanks also to Briony, our speaker and Exodus for allowing us to use their Centre. I, for one, cannot wait until next year. Katie Burrows 11N
