Junior Ski Trip, Austria 2025

Back in February 2025, 40 pupils and 5 staff headed for the Austrian Alps to the beautiful resort of Ehrwald. We had three beginning groups and one advanced group. Our hotel for the week was the impressive Sonnenburg Hotel on the foothills of the Zugspitze. Skiing on days 1 – 3 was on the Wettersteinbahn which was outside the front door of the hotel! Days 4 – 6 involved us taking the bus up the valley to the spectacular Ehrwalder Alm area. It was brilliant to witness all of the pupils embrace the challenge of skiing with such enthusiasm and commitment. Everyone was skiing by the end of the week under the expert tutelage of our Austrian / Dutch Ski Instructors conquering every type of slope, from blues to blacks. The week ended with a hot chocolate halfway up the mountain followed by a precarious walk / slide down a blue slope in the dark back to our hotel! It was a memorable week thoroughly enjoyed by all. Lily and Holly have summed up their experience below. Our school ski trip to Austria was an unforgettable experience. We stayed in a small village, Ehrwald, surrounded by snowy mountains. The scenery was amazing. On the slopes we were split into groups based on skill level and our instructors helped everyone improve quickly. Whether a beginner like us or more experienced, skiing was thrilling. In the evenings we relaxed with hot drinks, played games and enjoyed traditional Austrian foods like schnitzel and apple strudel. The teachers on the trip were

always supportive and kind. By the end of the week, we were tired but happy. We had learned new skills, made amazing memories and didn’t want to leave. It was truly a trip to remember.
