Religious Studies and History Trip to Rome

Day 1 Our Rome trip started with an early Air-coach ride from Belfast to Dublin at 1.00am on Tuesday, 17 June 2025, before our 6.00am flight to Rome. After a short flight, we stepped out into the sizzling Italian sun and headed straight to the hotel to get ready for a fun-packed first day. The first stop on our itinerary was the Colosseum which meant we had to get the metro into the very heart of Rome. As you walked out of the metro exit, the first thing that met your eyes was the humongous, breath-taking structure of the Colosseum, which made everybody’s jaws drop. After an eventful tour of the ancient building, our tour-guide (Irene) walked us through century-old monuments like the Arch of Constantine, the Arch of Titus, the Roman Forum, the Vittoriano and finally the Pantheon. To make this day even better, we were treated to pizzas from a local pizzeria after our long trek around the city. Mr Arnold then had the wise idea to go hunting for tiramisu – which we devoured – before dancing our way back to the hotel to the music made by a band of Italian buskers. While our legs might have been tired, everybody was still buzzing with excitement to see what tomorrow would bring. Day 2 Our second day was my personal favourite day. We began by taking a metro north to the Vatican, which was surrounded by high walls and jam-packed full of people. The first mission was to make our way through
