Spanish Trip
Our journey to Spain started bright and early, having to meet before 2am to make the flight! After a smooth journey, we had a tour of Barcelona including seeing the old Olympic arena and the famous Sagrada Familia Cathedral. Then we went back to the hotel in Salou and had a quick dip in the pool before dinner, exploring and some shopping. Day 2 consisted of boarding a cable car to visit Montserrat, a monastery in an elevated position overlooking the surrounding mountains, and enjoying the breathtaking views from that height. Later, we went to Tarragona’s historic centre as well as the Pont del Diablo aqueduct and the ruins of a roman amphitheatre, and enjoyed a traditional tapas (or Mcdonalds!) for lunch. Day 3 was for the football fans, when we visited Camp Nou, home of Barcelona FC. The stadium was under construction, but there was plenty to do including impressive immersive experiences as well as browsing in their huge shop. We spent that afternoon on the beach soaking up some sun, swimming with fish and playing water polo, which was good preparation for
our Sports Day that evening. Sports Day saw some very close competition and a bit of chaos, which everyone enjoyed. On Day 4, we spent the day at the nearby theme park, Port Aventura which had something for everyone, especially for adrenaline junkies. Some events did include Lucy getting stuck up a roller coaster (not her fault!) which required mechanics to come and rescue her. We finished our visit on the Tutuki Splash, where two boatfuls of us were soaked to the skin. That evening we practised our Spanish to buy some souvenirs and The final day flew in, and was jam packed with activities. We visited the Cosmocaixa Science Museum which had interactive displays and even some animals! We then relaxed with some retail therapy at Maremagnum Shopping Centre followed by a boat trip around the Barcelona Port before heading to the airport for a late night flight. It was a brilliant trip and I think we would all agree that we made memories which will last a lifetime. Zara Suciu 13TG5
