You should be incredibly proud – I

It is with immense pride that I share the fantastic news that Sophia O’Neil was awarded Runner-Up in the Best TV/Film Extract category at the Eduqas Moving Image Awards 2025 for her short film, Love in the 21st Century. The ceremony took place on Monday, 10 February 2025 at the British Film Institute (BFI) on London’s Southbank – a prestigious and inspiring venue for young filmmakers. The competition recognises inspiring levels of student achievement within the production of Film and Media. It showcases the very best work created by Film and Media Studies students aged 14–19 from schools and colleges across the UK. To have Sophia’s work selected from such a competitive field is a huge honour. Her film stood out for its emotional impact, originality, and technical excellence, and it was a proud moment to see it screened on the big screen at the BFI. I had the pleasure of attending the ceremony alongside Sophia, and Mrs A Peel (Head of Year); Sophia’s mother and brother, who had a starring role in her production,

certainly am! Ms L E Gray Head of Media Studies
