What I Liked / My Personal Opinion In my review, I think that the YMCA program was very fun and interesting because not only did we learn a lot, but we also did fun puzzles. As well, I would do this again. Oskar Wojtak 8N
During the year, YMCA representatives visited the school to deliver workshops on Diversity & Inclusion to our Year 8 pupils. Below is a review written by one of the pupils. YMCA Programme Review In our LLW class from March to May, we had a visiting speaker from the YMCA called Peter, who covered a programme called ‘I Am Because We Are’. We discovered a lot from the world around us, including:- Stereotypes One of the subjects we learnt is stereotypes, stereotypes are the oversimplified thoughts we have about others. It is a type of racial discrimination towards others that is very inappropriate. We talked about how we should accept others no matter what they look like, and that kindness is the number one priority in our society. Diversity In the YMCA classes, we talked about diversity. The meaning of diversity is that everyone is different from the top to the bottom of the earth, we come across many races, cultures and religious beliefs that we should all respect. They also talk about the benefits of living in a diverse community. Decade Of Centenaries In the conflict of the decade of centenaries, we learnt about Irish uprisings and how the island was split north and south, which is what Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland is now in the modern days.
