Reo McKnight Head Boy

As I came into Year 12, I transitioned back into my own sport of football and was able to achieve so much with the best bunch of guys I’ve played with. Being coached by various members of staff and past pupils, I was able to diversify my relationships and social wellbeing, both inside and outside the classroom. We won the Belfast Plate and came runners up in the NISFA Cup in Year 12. In Year 14 won the Belfast Grammar Schools’ League, being the first ever Grosvenor team to do so. I am proud to say that I was able to captain the team in Year 14 and I have made some of the best memories ever: from bus trips away to the Valencia trip, the list goes on. Sport in Grosvenor has been my favourite thing and has allowed my network to grow more and more, as well as making me the best person I can be. In the summer term, I always played cricket and so I continued my career thanks to the marvellous setup and progression available here at Grosvenor. Having a coach as prestigious and seasoned as Mr White is a game changer and I have truly learned lots, especially in my younger years. In my final year, I captained the 2nd XI and this was a perfect way to see my cricket days out. The best year of my life was Year 14 at Grosvenor. Having the honour of being the Head Boy bestowed upon me instilled me with pride. I was very fortunate to have such a good team of Head Prefects around me and the year was so enjoyable. I was given marvellous opportunities, such as skiing in Madonna Di Campiglio, a Ski resort made in heaven, and captaining the football

My time In Grosvenor Grammar School is something that I will always cherish and certainly will never forget. Entering Mr Tomkins room with a smile

deriving from both excitement and unpredictability – I grabbed every opportunity with both hands. With help from a caring Form Tutor and both Gareth and Holly, my Form Prefects, I settled in well. My introductory period was sealed and perfected by an unforgettable trip to Delamont, where crawling through mud and climbing rock walls seemed to bond me with other pupils more than anything else did! For my first two years in Grosvenor, I was an avid rugby player and I thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of weaving through challenges and scoring tries, on the very few occasions I actually did. Having never held a rugby ball in my life, it’s safe to say that the coaching staff were excellent and I’m grateful that I was immediately given the chance to develop new skills in unfamiliar surroundings. With Covid scything right through my Year 9 and Year 10, things became eccentric; however, Grosvenor made it work. The effort from teachers to work with you online, be it through zoom or on Google Classroom has stood by us all and in a time of uncertainty, I was given the best support possible to continue progressing.
