CLUBS AND SOCIETIES

Junior Science Club ran this year in Room F115 on Wednesdays from 3.30 to 4.15pm. We had a small but enthusiastic bunch of pupils who attended each week, they not only worked on their own science projects but participated in organised activities. Some of these activities included investigating ways to safely drop an egg, investigating how mentos react with carbonated drinks and building the best paper aeroplane, as demonstrated by Hanna Gorka and Jamie Neeson. Cookery Club

Cookery Club provides students with the opportunity to develop their practical cookery skills outside of the curriculum. Year 8 pupils can try new recipes and make dishes they have not tried before in a fun and relaxed environment. It is an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills and make new friends. Our recipes are influenced by skills that the pupils are keen to learn by the time of year; with Christmas cookery being a particular favourite. You don’t have to excel in cookery or baking to come to Cookery Club, it is an opportunity to spend time together, have fun and make something delicious! All abilities are welcome. Mrs A Conn

Crochet and Knitting Club

Crochet Club has provided students with a space to set homework aside, unwind and learn a new skill every Wednesday afternoon. While learning to crochet is the heart of the club, occasionally some members have explored other crafts such as bracelet making, knitting, and hand sewing. Although the club is open to all year groups, it has become especially

popular among Year 8 girls, who bring lots of energy and enthusiasm to each session. It’s been wonderful to watch new friendships blossom throughout the year as the students share conversations about their interests during our crochet sessions. Mrs A Salt
