CLUBS AND SOCIETIES

Art Club

When I first heard about Board Game Club, I was thrilled at the opportunity to make new friends and try new games that I couldn’t try at home. It is a relatively small gathering of between five and six people from Years 8 to Years 11, not always the same, playing games such as various versions of Monopoly, Jumanji and a trivial pursuit type game called ‘Perplex City’. Even if you can’t go every week, you can just go when you can and join in, everyone is always very welcoming. I have always attended on Mondays in C111 with Ms Elwood but there was the option of Tuesdays with Mrs Dorman in C116. This is one of the only after-school clubs that I have gone to consistently and I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of going to it - we would love Board Game Club Our students have the wonderful opportunity to develop their skills in Art & Design, outside of the curriculum, during Art Club. We meet after school every week for an hour long session of fun, creative activities. Usually, we can experiment with lots of different medias, processes and techniques. Very often our tasks are ‘season’ related. We tried using chalk pastels to create Autumnal leaf scenes. In the winter months we worked on decorations and ‘glitter snow’ scenes. The new year brought us ‘The Year of the Snake’ poster competition, with lots of winning entries. Paper bunnies and Easter cards brought us into the spring months. Lots of fun with new friends, is the main aim of Art Club. You don’t have to be a skilled or talented artist….just have an interest in joining in and having fun with your friends. Anyone can come along throughout the year to join us. All abilities in the creative visual arts are welcome. Mrs L Denvir-Watson
