The growing popularity of NFL Jag Tag, and flag football more broadly, has been remarkable, particularly in creating more inclusive opportunities for girls to take part in an exciting and fast-paced sport. With flag football set to make its debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, there has never been a better time to get involved. One of the best things about this game is that it can be played in mixed teams, giving both boys and girls the chance to take part together. If you are interested in finding out more, come along to a Jag Tag session after school on Fridays. “Jag Tag enables everyone to learn new skills, stay active, and enjoy a fast, inclusive sport that’s growing rapidly across Northern Ireland.” Mr M McAuley

Last year, our NFL Jag Tag Club brought together an enthusiastic group of Year 8 and Year 11 girls, offering them a unique opportunity to develop both their sporting skills and their leadership abilities. The older students began by learning the rules and strategies of Jag Tag before guiding and coaching the Year 8 players throughout the season. With the support of a local company, both groups completed an initial six-week training programme that built their understanding of the game and fostered teamwork and confidence. The programme culminated in the Year 8 girls representing the school in a provincial competition, where they performed exceptionally well considering their limited experience. Since the completion of the training, the girls have continued to meet every Friday to further enhance their skills in preparation for future matches against
