the day ended with a loss to Royal and Prior in the cup competition. The senior teams travelled to the National Badminton Centre in Lisburn for the senior competitions. Although the senior girls were very inexperienced at this level, they still managed to pick up victories against Banbridge Academy and Wallace High School before a semi-final loss against Strathearn. The boys team started with a comfortable win against a Wallace High School ‘B’ team before losing a group decider to Sullivan Upper. All in all, a lot of good badminton was played by both sides. Hopefully, all the teams will be able to compete and improve next season. I would like to thank Mrs Corken and Mrs Reid for their assistance throughout the season. Mr G Hunter

Badminton at Grosvenor continued to be a popular extra-curricular sport for both the competitive and recreational player with Tuesday afternoons fully booked each week. With the growing numbers at the club, we were able add a senior girl’s team to the list of competitive teams. Our junior teams once again made the journey to the University of Ulster, Coleraine to take part in the Ulster Schools Division 2 and cup competitions. Unfortunately, the girls team were unable to match the previous year’s success, losing to Ballyclare High School and Friends’ School Lisburn before being knocked out of the cup competition by a strong Strathearn School side. The boys fared better, winning their group with victories over Royal School, Dungannon and Wallace High School to top their group before narrowly losing out to Ballyclare High School in the semi-final.
