It was very encouraging to see the energy and enthusiasm at the beginning of the season, with a significant number of pupils being very interested in signing up to represent the school in cricket. A massive thank you to Mr White, who delivered workshops throughout PE and Games lessons on the basics of cricket, and gave us a steady base to develop from. Our first match of the season was a ‘Pairs Cricket’ game against Methodist College Belfast at Pirrie Park. It was a chance for everyone to get a chance to bat and be involved. In our next fixture, we played against a mixture of Campbell College’s A and B team. Our batting prowess was evident in the opening innings, with Adam Braithwaite retiring on 62 runs, and Harsh Tajane also not out on 30 runs. Campbell’s opening batsmen started positively, and despite a late flurry of wickets, with Alex Hamilton taking his first two wickets in school cricket and showing some promise, Campbell won by three wickets.
