match was tightly contested. MCB managed to get the better of us in the 2nd XI Cup semi-final, however, the players performed admirably in a reduced-over game. 2nd XI cricket is alive and well in Grosvenor Grammar School; I view it as a key development platform for future 1st XI players, as well as an opportunity for all to

continue playing the game. We had such interest this year we would have had the numbers for a 3rd XI had other schools been able to facilitate fixtures. My hope is that its popularity continues to grow and it enthuses young cricketers to continue to engage with the sport. Mr M McDowell

Grosvenor U15 Cricket Squad – Season Review The Grosvenor U15 cricket squad made really pleasing progress throughout the season, demonstrating greater maturity and growing confidence, aided in part by a schedule of fixtures that allowed the team to develop steadily. The squad showcased notable improvements in all three facets of the game - batting, bowling and fielding, reflecting the hard work put in during training and matches. Key Matches and Performances Vs. Lurgan College Grosvenor began the season with an impressive victory over Lurgan College. A controlled bowling

and fielding performance restricted Lurgan to 81-4 from their allotted 20 overs with Eli English and Tom McCarthy each taking two crucial wickets, while others applied pressure and kept the opposition’s scoring rate in check. Chasing a modest total, Grosvenor’s innings was initially steady, but the introduction of Lurgan’s spinners slowed the scoring, and wickets began to fall. Patrick Purdy produced excellent work with the bat, while Peter McKittrick’s unbeaten 14* saw Grosvenor over the line in a thrilling finish. This win was particularly significant given the team’s struggles in previous seasons against strong opposition in the cup, marking a milestone for the squad’s development.
