The NI Bowl Final – A Battle Against Wallace High School The final showdown saw Grosvenor face Wallace High School, a well-drilled squad with extensive club-level experience. Undeterred, the team approached the match with determination, receiving motivational words from Erin Young, a former pupil and NI Under-21 squad member. Despite impressive defensive efforts from Kara Hume and Kathryn Heron, along with strong attacking plays from Emily Hobbs and Isabella Morrison, Wallace proved too strong, securing a 19-5 victory. Regardless of the result, the Grosvenor squad should be incredibly proud of their achievement—reaching an NI final in their debut season is nothing short of phenomenal. A huge congratulations to all the players who contributed to the Minor Netball squad this year: Kara Hume, Emily McLaughlin, Kathryn Heron, Olivia Childs, Lilah McNaul, Emily Wells, Isabella Morrison, Emily Hobbs, Caitlin McCracken, Nell Davidson, Alina Lasrado, Chloe Zhang, Yoyee Lau, Maia Ross, Sasha Henning, Emily McCurley and Edie McCurley. This season has set a strong foundation for the future, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for Grosvenor netball! Mrs K Kirk
of Northern Ireland’s netball powerhouses—Wallace High School, St Dominic’s Grammar School, Our Lady & St Patrick’s College, Aquinas Grammar School, and St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan - the team faced stiff competition. However, their unwavering determination was commendable, and they gained invaluable experience that would serve them well in the next phase of the season. With the League competition wrapped up, the squad turned their focus to the Netball NI Cup. Their opening game was a rematch against BRA, who had previously beaten them in the Blitz. This time, Grosvenor showcased significant growth, with their players demonstrating cohesion across attack and defence. Led by captain Emily Wells in centre, the attacking trio of Isabella Morrison (WA), Emily Hobbs (GA), and Caitlin McCracken (GS) moved seamlessly, while defenders Kara Hume (GK) and Kathryn Heron (GD) formed a solid partnership, supported by Olivia Childs and Lilah McNaul (WD). Despite a hard-fought game, the team narrowly lost 10-6, securing a spot in the NI Bowl competition. Determined to make their mark, the squad delivered a stellar performance in the quarter-final against All Saints College, storming to a dominant 13-1 victory. Their momentum continued in the semi-final against St Genevieve’s College, overcoming early challenges to win 14-7. An extraordinary accomplishment—reaching the NI Bowl Final in their very first competitive netball season.
