of competitive matches. The A team drew 0-0, the B team narrowly lost 1-0, and the C team were defeated 3-0. Next up were matches against Lagan College, where both the A and B squads secured 1-1 draws. The teams were beginning to gel, and both goalkeepers, Emily Mitchell and Erin Woods, made some excellent saves, showing great improvement in their roles. As we progressed to 9-a-side, our first fixtures were against Bloomfield Collegiate. The B team drew 1-1, and the A team were narrowly beaten 2-1. The following week brought our first away fixtures — and our first wins — against Wellington College, Belfast. The A team won 2-1 with goals from Abbie Lee and Evie Nelson, while the B team triumphed 3-0 thanks to goals from Ellie Freel, Freya Kennedy and Faith McDowell. We then moved to 11-a-side matches, starting again with Bloomfield. Determined to improve on their earlier performance, the A team secured a 1-0 win with another great goal from Evie Nelson, and the B team won 2-1 with goals from Freya Kennedy and Pradydullatha Reddy Nimmakayala.

Training sessions were not only productive but also fun, and it’s been wonderful to see strong friendships form—bonds that will no doubt continue throughout their time at GGS. The girls trained enthusiastically on Mondays, during Friday Games, and on Saturday mornings, with consistently high attendance all season. Our first competition was an 8-a-side tournament at Methodist College, Belfast. It was a challenging start, as we were placed in a Tier A group. The girls faced tough opposition from Belfast Royal Academy, Armagh Royal, Sullivan Upper, and Ballyclare High School. Their best result was a hard-fought 0-0 draw against BRA. We then fielded three 8-a-side squads against Down High School in what turned out to be a fantastic afternoon of hockey. It gave all the girls their first taste
