rest of the squad. Their ability to motivate teammates, organise on-field play, and maintain morale played a huge part in the team’s positive experience. Equally, every player contributed in their own way — whether through quiet consistency, vocal encouragement or moments of brilliance during key matches. While results were, of course, important, what truly defined this season for the 2XI Girls Hockey Team was the attitude and spirit with which they approached every challenge. They competed with integrity, supported one another through every high and low, and demonstrated a level of professionalism that was truly impressive for such a young squad. Their resilience, coupled with an unshakeable desire to grow, laid the foundation for a season full of development, fun and pride. In summary, the 2XI Girls Hockey Team has had a fantastic season, marked by growth, unity, and determination. They have represented Grosvenor Grammar School with distinction and should be incredibly proud of everything they have achieved. Looking ahead to next season, I would like to encourage you to keep that same energy and enthusiasm alive. The progress made this year is just the beginning, and with continued dedication, there’s even more potential for growth and success. Saturday mornings quickly became a highlight of the week. While early starts and chilly pitches can test anyone’s motivation, the 2XI squad consistently turned up with a smile, ready to give their all. Their commitment to weekend fixtures was unwavering, with players always arriving punctually, prepared, and focused. Whether at home or away, the girls approached each game with determination, representing Grosvenor Grammar School with pride. The dedication to these matches was evident not only in their effort but also in their willingness to adapt to new tactics and roles when needed — often switching positions or strategies to meet the needs of the team. Throughout the season, the improvement in both individual and collective performances was remarkable. Early games against some tough opposition sometimes exposed areas for growth, but what stood out was how the girls responded to feedback and setbacks. Rather than becoming discouraged, they used challenges as motivation, showing a real eagerness to develop. By mid-season, their progress was evident in the fluidity of play, the growing confidence in possession, and the strength of the defensive structure. Attack and defence alike showed marked improvement, and the team began to play with real cohesion, purpose, and belief. A special mention must be given to the performances the girls produced against Regent House School, Bloomfield Collegiate, Lagan College and Down High School in which the girls recorded convincing victories. The leadership within the group also deserves special mention. The team’s captains, Libby and Lucy, led with both passion and composure, setting the tone for the
