Purpose of this Presentation and Consultation Introduction This website forms part of the community consultation in respect of lands adjacent to Kilbegs Industrial Estate and approximately 60m south west of Unit 22 Junction One, Antrim. The development proposals involve the construction of a new Training Unit associated with the Bridge Association Charity comprising a mix of uses such as classrooms, workshops, canteen, kitchen, gym, offices and staff room, including a new access point onto Kilbegs Business Park, Kilbegs Road. Consultation during COVID-19 In light of the current situation under COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing measures, temporary pre-application community consultation regulations were introduced. These removed the requirement for a public event but encouraged and provided guidance for alternative consultation measures. We are using a number of online, digital and remote tools to The purpose of this webpage is to share our indicative proposals with the community and other interested parties prior to the submission of a Full planning application to Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council. We are committed to engaging with members of the wider community and are now undertaking a period of pre-application community consultation (PACC) on our proposals. The feedback received will be shared with the design team and will help to shape our proposals prior to the submission of a planning application. We will prepare a Pre-Application Community Consultation Report which will provide a summary of all feedback, our response and howwe have incorporated any appropriate feedback into the final proposals for the scheme. The Bridge Association has identified a c.0.5ha (1.2 acre) site for their new location on the Randalstown/Kilbegs Road. The site fronts onto the Randalstown/Kilbegs Roads to the east, and there is an internal estate road to the northwest of the site which provides access to Kerr’s Tyres & Auto to the rear (west of the site). The surrounding site context includes a range of light and general industrial business units, as well as the retail outlet ‘The Junction’.

Site History The sitewas previously associatedwith thewider development proposals for a newLight IndustrialWarehouse (T/2006/0676/F), whichwas approved in January 2007. This approved layout was subsequently varied in 2016 through thepermission of a Tyre Depot (LA03/2016/0510/F), which formed a standalone sitewith an alternative access to the site and lands to the rear. This access roadhas sincebeen built out and currently serves Kerr’s AutoTyres &Auto.

Have Your Say… Introduction Benefitting the Community The Bridge Association is a not-for-profit organisation providing vocational work-based training opportunities for adults with learning disabilities aged 18+ years. They believe that everyone should have the opportunity to mature and develop as an individual to their full potential in all aspects of living including social, educational, occupational and recreational. The Bridge Vocational Training Unit has been operational in Antrim town since 1988 and moved into new, purpose-built premises in 2004. The Unit is committed to providing high quality vocational training opportunities in 3 key areas encompassing Catering; Retail and Horticulture/ Propagation. Trainees can also avail of courses in Personal Development, Information Technology (IT) and Numeracy/Literacy to encourage them to recognise their full potential in all aspects of their daily living.
